The Dilemma of florists

I will win no awards for flower arranging. Flowers are awkward and recalcitrant creatures but you can’t help but love them. For colour and form they are pretty much top of the class.

Here are some true and false facts about a few of them:

1) Proteas are shape-shifters and hard to catch unawares.

2) Roses can be a bit smug at times, but probably with good reason. They include royalty, writers and all sorts of famous people. 

3) Tulips started off as turbans but over time were made to fit all sorts and sizes. They definitely have a spring in their step.

4) Lobsters make good flower arrangers on account of their big claws. Being a combination of grippers and clippers.
